Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Our Client is an engineering firm, with a world class reputation within the Building Services sector.
They are seeking a Mechanical Building Services Senior Design Engineer with design experience within the Building Services industry. You will have the ability to take projects from conception through to completion and will be qualified in a Mechanical discipline, providing engineering capability at the Cambridgeshire location. Support of all our offices - of which we have 4 - will be required from time to time.
The successful applicant will create, develop and finalise Mechanical engineering services advice and designs, as well as monitoring site installation works. The candidate will join the Building Services section to provide engineering support on single and multi-disciplinary projects including new build and refurbishment projects for the public and private sectors.
Qualifications required:-
MCIBSE/MIMechE approved Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services, preferred working towards Chartered Status.
Minimum of 5 years experience.
A good level of computer literacy in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Building Simulation/Calculation software is required. Our Client uses AutoCAD & IES software to add value to their design work.
Role:-
The successful candidate will work within multi-discipline design teams as the lead Mechanical engineer or with an Associate Director on major projects. As the role develops he/she will be responsible for the project management of complex projects for Clients in the Educational, Commercial, Leisure, Healthcare, Residential and Public Sectors. This will include Client liaison, design, interface with project teams and contract implementation.
Experience required:-
The candidate will have design and project engineering experience across the breadth of Mechanical Building Services such as:-
Heating systems
Ventilation systems
Comfort cooling systems
Air conditioning systems
Hot and cold water systems
Above ground drainage systems
Automatic control systems
Personality:-
The ability to operate as part of a project team, within appropriate authority levels and to represent the company with confidence to a variety of Clients and outside organisations. The candidate will be well motivated, innovative and career minded.
Main responsibilities:-
Mechanical Building Services engineering design to company standards
Carrying out design calculations
Preparing technical specifications
Preparing drawings for drafting by others
Representing the company at meetings
Site surveys and inspections
Maintaining records and archives to company standards
Manage own workload
Location is within easy reach of Cambridge, Huntingdon, Peterborough, King's Lynn, Northampton, Leicester, South Lincolnshire, Norfolk, South Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.
