Purchasing Expeditor
Location(s): Leicester
Salary: £17,000+ with benefits associated with a blue-chip company

Our Client is a major blue-chip company, operating globally. The UK division is part of the Global set up, and accounts for the vast majority of the revenue within the EMEAI region. As such, it is viewed as a key player within the organisation internally.

The Role

  • Receive and evaluate Purchase Requisitions for Purchase Order conversion
  • Liaise with Suppliers to ensure Purchase Order requirements are successfully executed
  • Proactively feedback delivery related information to internal customers - Project Managers and Service Contract Managers
  • Maintain Supplier records
  • Focal point of contact with Accounts re invoice resolution
  • Provide support to the local district Buyer/Supply Manager as and when required
  • Receive and evaluate Purchase Requisitions – identify supplier, price, payment terms and delivery requirements
  • Issue Purchase Order commitment ensuring all relevant requirements are communicated to the Supplier
  • Add new Suppliers and maintain Supplier records amending/deleting as required
  • Ensure best procurement practice is carried out within the business – drive preferred supplier and e-catalogue usage as first choice
  • Manage invoice alerts relating to price, quantity and goods receipting holds
  • Work with Accounts to resolve non-PO invoice issues
  • Engage Suppliers to resolve payment issues
  • Improve Supplier On Time Delivery Performance
  • Regularly publish Overdue to request report with a view to minimising Overdue to request PO’s.
  • Expedite deliveries from suppliers to meet project/service requirements
  • Micro manage supplier shipments at month end to reduce Goods in Transit/Suspense Inventory
  • Feedback information to Buyers on additional catalogs to be loaded

  • Negotiation and Persuasion skills
  • Good level of general education/qualifications
  • Experience in a Purchasing/Supply environment
  • Prior experience as a Buyer/Planner is an advantage.
  • Strong IT related skills – SAP (or similar) knowledge + Microsoft/Web based tool

Leicester. Location is within easy reach of Loughborough, Melton Mowbray, Coalville, Uppingham, Markfield, Barrow and Shepshed
